Florida's FIRST Surf Camp established in 1993!
Camps run May - Aug. Camp size is limited per week! Must be 8 Years old and able to swim! Average age is between 8 and 16 yrs.
Monday: 9:00 am Water Safety lesson/Marine Life awareness/basic beginner techniques. Surfing etiquette (do's and don'ts) Surfing with instructor. 11:30-12:30 lunch. 12:30 surfing resumes 2:30-3:00 equipment return, end of day.
Tuesday: 9:00 review water safety. Surfing with instructor. 11:30-12:30 lunch. 12:30 Surfboard repair and care. 1:00 surfing resumes. 2:30 equip. return.
Wednesday: 9:00 Surfing with instructors. 11:30-12:30 lunch. 12:30 1:00 Reading/understanding Weather maps/ Hurricane Tracking Charts and Internet Surf Forecasting. 1:00 surfing resumes. 2:30 equip. return.
Thursday: 9:00 surfing with instructor. 11:30-12:30 lunch and Surfing Movie. 12:30 surfing resumes. 2:30 equipment return.
Friday: 9:00 surfing with instructor. * END OF CAMP SURFING CONTEST! *(time to be determined by tide) 2:00 - 3:00 equip. return and awards for all competitors!!
What to bring to camp: All students MUST bring : 1. Shoes (flip flops) 2. Sunscreen (We recommend Banana Boat Sport SPF 50) 3. Towel. 4. Lunch or money to buy lunch. ($5.00) The Cocoa Beach Surfing School does supply cold water everyday to all students but we also recommend that students bring a snack and a drink for breaks.
The Cocoa Beach Surfing School staff will be glad to help you and answer any questions on equipment purchases at local Surf Shops! Anyone bringing their own surfboard must have a surfing leash! No exceptions! AS WE CANNOT GUARANTEE RIDEABLE SURF every day, this format is subject to change! Alternative programs such as paddle races, movies, kayaking or games will be substituted if a flat spell occurs. In extreme cases, extension of program may occur or a "rain check" given for return at a later date.
